From November to April the weather is close to perfect and the city lives outside; from June to September it is 110°F and life moves indoors. That single fact should determine every suit you own here, and almost nobody accounts for it.

The dry heat changes the answer too. Phoenix is hot but not humid, which means linen behaves better here than in Miami or Houston — it breathes without the clamminess, and it wrinkles less. Cotton and a tropical-weave wool both work. What does not work is a fully lined jacket: in dry heat, airflow through the garment matters more than the weight of the cloth. Unlined or half-lined, always.

Winter is when Phoenix dresses

December through March is the season for outdoor events, golf tournaments, and the kind of evening that actually gets cold in the desert. A mid-weight wool comes into its own, and a flannel is genuinely wearable — which surprises people who think of Phoenix only as furnace.

Weddings in Phoenix and Scottsdale

Peak season is November to April, and almost everything is outdoors: El Chorro, the Desert Botanical Garden, a resort in Paradise Valley, a ranch in Cave Creek. The desert palette — terracotta, rust, sand, sage green, stone — photographs against red rock and saguaro in a way navy simply doesn't. This is one of the few places in America where a terracotta linen suit is not a bold choice but the obvious one.

Evenings drop sharply. A jacket you can actually keep on after sunset is not optional.
