Wedding Suit Timeline — When to Order Your Custom Suit
The most common question we get from grooms: when should I order my wedding suit? The answer depends on your wedding date, how many groomsmen you have, and how much runway you want for any adjustments. This guide gives you the complete timeline — from first decision to wedding day.
The short answer
Order at least 8-10 weeks before your wedding date. This gives you 3-4 weeks for production, 1-2 weeks for shipping, and 3-4 weeks buffer for any adjustments or remakes. Most of our customers order 3-6 months out.
Month-by-month wedding suit timeline
12 months before — decide your look
You don't need to order yet, but start deciding: what colour, what fabric, what style? This is the time to browse, save inspiration, and align with your partner on the wedding aesthetic. Is it a summer linen wedding? A winter velvet affair? Outdoor or indoor? Formal or relaxed? These decisions shape your suit choice.

6-9 months before — finalise the look
Decide on colour, fabric, and style. If you're coordinating groomsmen, align on the colour palette now — every groomsman can order individually in the same colour. Browse our groomsmen suit collection and share the link with the wedding party.
3-4 months before — ideal time to order
This is the sweet spot for most couples. Ordering 3-4 months out gives you:
- 3-4 weeks production time at our atelier
- 1-2 weeks shipping (tracked and insured to all 50 US states)
- 6-8 weeks buffer for any minor adjustments at a local tailor
- Plenty of time to try the suit on multiple occasions before the wedding
8-10 weeks before — minimum safe window
This is our recommended minimum. At 8 weeks out: 4 weeks production, 1 week shipping, 3 weeks adjustment buffer. Tight but workable. If your wedding date is sooner than this, contact us at info@suitednoir.com to discuss options.
4-6 weeks before — urgent orders
Contact us before ordering. We occasionally accommodate urgent timelines depending on current production capacity. Email info@suitednoir.com with your wedding date.
For groomsmen — add extra time
Coordinating multiple men takes longer. Allow an extra 2-4 weeks above the standard timeline when ordering for a wedding party. Every groomsman orders separately at their own link — we build each suit to each man's individual measurements.
Tips for groomsmen coordination:
- Set a firm order deadline for all groomsmen — 2 weeks before you plan to order
- Share the measurement guide with every groomsman in advance
- Choose one colour and let each man take their own measurements
- All suits ship separately, directly to each groomsman
The measurement process
Taking your measurements takes about 20 minutes with our online measurement guide. You'll need a soft measuring tape and ideally a helper. No tailor visit, no fitting room, no appointment — just your measurements submitted online before or during checkout.
What if it doesn't fit perfectly?
Every SuitedNoir suit comes with our free alterations guarantee. If anything isn't exactly right on arrival, we cover the cost of adjustments at a local tailor anywhere in the US. We've never had a customer go to their wedding in a suit that didn't fit — and we're not about to start now.
